David Watts Sermon Outlines
Friends, my family and I have decided to make available my late father’s sermon outlines. My dad passed away in 2001 and these are some of his later sermons. They were originally in WordPerfect format. Brother Kevin Kay graciously did an initial conversion of these into Word format.
However, you will find that the formatting is not perfect but it should be intelligible.
We ask a few things from you in regard to these sermons.
#1 – Always search the Scriptures to see if these things are accurate. I believe these sermon outlines are true to the Word of God or I would not put them out for people to have. But, I could have made a mistake. My dad could have made a mistake. Only God’s word is perfect, so – always investigate the Word of God and see if these things are true.
#2 – My dad always disliked the idea of a lazy preacher. By that I mean, the preacher who won’t study for himself and do the hard work of developing a lesson from God’s Word. Please do not use these outlines as a crutch to be lazy. Use them like a sermon you would hear from the pulpit. Take some notes. Make your own decisions. Work these into sermons that truly become yours. If you simply take a sermon outline and preach it straight without study and consideration and improvement – you’re hurting yourself and your listeners.
#3 – If you think you have found some way in which an outline is not accurate with the Scriptures, please let me know.
#4 – If you find them useful, use them for God’s glory.
Finally, a couple of additional comments:
- You will find multiple versions of the same sermon. Sometimes one version is shorter than another or otherwise modified in some way. Most of these are word files.
- You will find a few PowerPoint files as well. They are usually rather simple.
- These are zipped. If you need a good unzipping program, I recommend 7zip. Its free.
